FOUNDER’S STORY
Anne VanderWal
I hail from Michigan and from an early age, I was immersed in a home where my mother was constantly entertaining, modeling true hospitality to everyone who came through our front door.
After graduating from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), I traveled eastbound to pursue my dream of living in New York City. Fast forward 15 years, I made a home and a flourishing business in NYC with recent expansion into New Jersey and Philadelphia.
Beginning with my first role managing the catering for private events at a top cultural institution, to producing events of all shapes and sizes at the famed Yankee Stadium, and on to running the events department at a respected non-profit historical museum built on the premise of education, I have experienced every type of event and thrive off the energy and excitement.
My diverse background prior to launching Events That Matter served to build my reputation for creativity, a keen eye for detail, and a trusted professional in the events industry.

COMMUNICATION

EFFICIENCY
We all lead busy lives. I am extremely organized and goal-oriented, I seek to maximize our time together so that I can take some work off of your plate and help you get through the never-ending list of items on your to-do list.
EMPATHY
I like to put myself in your shoes and ask, “How can I help you?” My ability to understand and share your feelings lets me hone in on what’s important to you and reinforces our teamwork.
JOY
Events should be FUN! The stress that comes with planning can often threaten the joy you should feel. I am here to alleviate the stress and bring the celebratory mood to the forefront of your experience.
When I’m Not Producing Events You Can Find Me…
DREAMING OF TRAVEL - PAST, AND FUTURE
In college, I spent six months living and studying in Florence. Everything about the country is beautiful; the language, art, fashion, food, wine, architecture, and the people! Italy exudes passion and is a feast for the eyes and the soul.
LOOKING FOR A DOG (OR TWO) TO ADOPT
If I were to have another career, it would either be a forensic psychologist or a dog rescuer.
PERFECTING MY
KARAOKE LINEUP
Music is a magnificent motivator for me and I relish curating (and sharing) playlists for any activity...half-marathons, sunny day strolls, dinner parties, or late-night dance parties.
IN THE KITCHEN
OR OUTSIDE
I find pure joy baking my mom’s famed recipes for carrot cake and apple pie, or trying out a new confection to share with my family and friends. To balance the sugar rush, you can find me training for my next half marathon or taking a barre class.
